PARKELT: PARASOL CLOUD

Creating Community Space

This parklet was made for a one-day event in the Channel District of Downtown Tampa. The project explores the concepts of shade and its importance in creating outdoor community space. Playful components, such as the patterned ground plane, flowing grasses and light-capturing parasols invite people into the space. Once there, users can manipulate furniture to adapt to their sun or shade requirements.

This project was highlighted at the 2017 ASLA Florida Conference as an introduction to parklet design in Florida.
